Dealing with Bad Gym Etiquette | How To Deal With Bad Gym Etiquette

This is the most irritating one for me, its bad gym etiquette. I hate to have to put someone else's mess away or search the gym for ten minutes for the weights that I need. Other gym members and the staff are not your mom to clean after you, do it yourself.

You may have people like this in your gym. They stink, bad! Always be sure to wash your gym clothes, wear deodorant and wear an undershirt if you have problems with (excessive sweating). Being stinky will bother anyone that gets near you in the gym. Do the courteous thing and do not come to the gym smelling like the inside of a sweaty sneaker.

This sort of drama drives me nuts. These guys have the "Napoleon Complex" in a major way! It is almost as if they believe that dropping the weights is hardcore and that if you don't you aren't working out hard enough. Their argument is that they are lifting heavy and I must lift wussy weights.

People smelling like sweaty gym socks, dripping profusely with sweat and not wiping it up, people blatantly checking out others' assets, singing at the top of their lungs to Milli Vanilli, grunting or moaning loudly, filling up their entire water bottle while there is a wait at the fountain, and music blaring from their Ipod.

You are in the gym to sweat and the first thing to remember about working out is work. At the end of the workout if you're sweaty and stinky is fine but if you haven't cleansed your body or clothing and you stink at the start of your workout,then there is a problem.

If someone is in the middle of a set, don't ask him to work in, don't glare, don't sigh or act impatient, and don't even ask to spot him unless he seems to be struggling in a might-break-my-own-neck way.

Another point to note, is to give adequate space to those working out. When you see someone lifting a weight, it's not recommended to go close to them. Fair enough, if you wish to grab a weight from the smith machine whilst there with it, proceed, but attempt not to get to close, as you don't want them or yourself to get injured caused by coming to near to the weight.

Most gyms are members only- therefore if you are not a member or your trial period has run up and you have not signed up, do not try to sneak in; it is unfair and dishonest. The same goes for trying to get friends and family in unnoticed.

Looking nice just means taking a bit of care with your gym attire. Wearing your old ratty T shirt with the holes in it and those stretched out sweatpants that you love is not going to cut it. Step it up and invest in a few, simple yet stylish pieces that have you looking neat, clean and attractive. Nobody wants to be approached by the sweaty, dirty looking guy at the gym.
