How To Apply Eyeshadow

When learning how to apply eyeshadow one of the first lesson is to never choose colors that contrast with your natural eye color. So if you have eyes that are a bright blue and you decide on a darker eyeshadow the effect is going to dim your natural eye color. The trick here is to select eyeshadow colors that will compliment your natural eye color.
Use colors that are slightly more dramatic than your average daily wear and, in some cases, even darker than your night look. Applying eyeshadow that emphasizes your natural features is a huge plus but you can always get creative and add effects like the smoky eye.

Using a brush, pat your base color of choice across the mobile lid, stopping just before you reach the crease of the eye. I choose to use a patting motion as it provides a more strong color and assists to prevent fallout especially when using darker colors.

Eyeshadow now comes in many styles and finishes. It is available in creams, powders, liquid and pencils. It can be frosted; matte, glitter, shimmer and some are specifically designed for drier or older skin. Many manufactures now produce eyeshadow compacts with coordinated shades of eyeshadow, typically including a light, medium and dark shade.

Take the darker color first and slowly apply it along the eyelash line and stop when you reach the crease of your eye socket. Now take your second color, the lighter shade and place it above your darker shade. This color should extend to your eyebrow line.

A lot of eyeshadow guides recommend the opposite, but it is a mistake. It makes it easier to blend your eyeshadow when the medium eyeshadow is on top. In addition, put your lighter eyeshadow on your entire eyelid before applying the medium eyeshadow. Again, this makes blending much easier.

Apply your dark shadow only to the eyelids from the lash line to the crease in the eyelid. Apply your medium shadow from just below the eyelid crease to the brow bone.

In this case, you could learn to apply eyeshadow to create smoky eyes. When done right, your beauty would be obvious, both elegant and sensual. Because the application of eyeshadow to create smoky eyes involves darker colors, just remember not to go overboard on the rest of the cosmetics worn.
