How to Avoid a Hangover

You needed to be a big shot. You ended up having an exceptional time, putting away the alcoholic beverages, and now you're having to pay the price. Your skull feels like somebody is actually smashing it with a 10 lb. sledge hammer. Your stomach is attempting to reject your body.

Avoid sugary drinks or malt beverages. Alternate with non-alcoholic drinks like water. Take a page from our French friends. They always dine with a glass of wine and a large glass of water. The French drink a lot, but you rarely see them completely hammered.

Drinking alcohol will ultimately make you dehydrated so that your brain dehydrates and you feel terrible. You should also drink a glass of water between each drink in order to slow down the rate of your drinking alcohol to about one drink per hour.

Take multivitamin or liver salts before bed to replace the vitamins and minerals lost as a result of drinking alcohol, and drink plenty of water to dehydrate you. If you ate a good meal before going out, this step may not be necessary, but to prevent any potential hangover, it can be better safe than sorry. This may also be another best way to prevent a hangover.

Mix in a glass of water between every alcoholic drink. Alcohol always dehydrates your body, which in turn causes the headaches and other aches you feel during a hangover. One glass of water in between every glass of alcohol is a good rule of thumb to follow. Drink another glass or two of water when you return home, and, if possible, have something else to eat, such as a banana or two.

If you think caffeine would help to avoid hangover, then you better be ready to battle with aches and pain you will be awarded for. Caffeine will only make things worse for your body and continues to dehydrate you. I think this is definitely something you are not wishing for. So well, let's just stick to the water part.

Being a wise shopper means being on the lookout for coupons and catalog savings online and offline. There are tons of blogs and blotters that keep up with great deals that will continue through the rest of the month. Taking the time to search, clip or print can mean big savings, and a happy holiday all around.

It's best to drink slowly, pacing yourself to avoid that one moment where you rise from your chair and realize, three drinks too late, that you've consumed far too much. Drink in moderation and remind those around you that friends don't let friends get hangovers.
