Do You Suffer from Melancholia?

Melancholia is another definition for sadness, an emotional state in which many of us succumb to during times of solitude. It is defined sometimes as the extreme downward opposite of the satisfaction that we feel on gratifying our self concerning the need to alleviate our self esteem.
Melancholic Depression can be caused through a stressful situation or event. It can cause other consequences such as break up in relationship.

The mind of a Melancholy is always turning, constantly thinking, perpetually grinding away at one thing or another. There is a large amount of energy expended in this thought process. If the thought process is channeled along positive paths, incredible and wonderful results can blossom.

Some types of depression have a much more physiological origin. These may include melancholic depression as well as psychotic melancholia. Physical treatments for depression may include conventional antidepressant medication, electro convulsive therapy and transcranial magnetic stimulation.

Mental depression, in itself is not a very definite term. It incorporates various conditions from temporary mood swings, to consistent feelings of dejection over a period of time to severe melancholia with serious repercussions. For the most part, people tend to take depression for granted, dismissing it as integral to a person's natural disposition but in reality, it is a clinical condition that needs to be diagnosed for possible causes and then treated accordingly.
