Health Benefit of Eating Beetroot

Beetroot has a most vibrant color from the pigment source betacynin. That is probably how the phrase 'red as a beetroot' came about. It is low in saturated fat and cholesterol and a good source of vitamin C, iron, magnesium, dietary fiber, folate, potassium and manganese.
It is believed that the beetroot juice with its rich nitrate source have the ability to reduce the amount of oxygen burnt up by the body during the exercise. The beetroot juice reduces blood pressure and was shown to be significantly lowered within a 24 hour period of first consuming the beetroot juice; this was even in people with a normally low blood pressure.

It protects the body from onset of many diseases such as piles, dysentery, gout, diarrhea, constipation, vomiting, diseases of the circulatory system; diseases of the skin and defects at birth in children.

The beetroot nutritional benefits range from aiding anemia by building red blood cells to aiding digestion and helping the gall bladder and liver function. When beet juice is mixed with carrot juice, this combination provides the body with enough minerals to encourage the healing process.

Beetroot can be preserved in a variety of ways for later use such as canned, pickled, frozen or stored in a cool dry environment. Alternatively you can keep them stored in a refrigerator for a couple of months by removing all but a couple of inches off the tops and placing them in an unsealed bag.

Beetroot juice is very potent, and it is recommended that you drink the raw juice diluted or mixed with other vegetable or fruit juices so as not to push the body into detoxifying too quickly. Here is one of the juicer recipes I like most- Combine Beetroot Juice with cucumber and celery to balance it's sweet taste.

Beetroot juice is possibly the best natural remedy for anemia. It contains excellent cleansing properties with a high iron content that restores red blood cells whilst supplying oxygen and increasing the blood count. As a valuable source of iron and beets are excellent natural sources to reverse anemia. It is recommended that you drink one pint daily of blended beet juice. The base blend should be with carrot juice but you can add apples, pineapple, coconut flesh, spinach or cucumber depending on what other ailments you want to cure.
