andaman-and-nicobar Situated in the bay of Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar island is basically Known for their clean waters, fresh air and water sporting activities like scuba diving and snorkelling, it has gained the reputation of India's most exotic destination. It is a union territory Comprising of Andaman archipalego in the north and nicobar islands in the south and has port blair as its capital.


Andaman and Nicobar has a very interesting history. During world war 2 the Japanese had authority over Andaman and Nicobar islands. Shubhas Chandra Bose renamed the island as “shaheed-dweep“ which meant martyrs land and “swaraj-dweep”  which meant self-ruled island. Under the  British rule in 1874 Andaman and Nicobar islands were placed under one administrative territory headed by chief commissioner.


Andaman and Nicobar mainly consist of Hindus and Christians and a small portion of the population is muslim.the main source of economy of this island is tourism. Most of the land here is used for agriculture and “paddy”is the main food crop grown here.Rubber cashew red oil are also grown but at a very small scale. The territory also earns from exporting many materials outside. Andaman and Nicobar has many exotic locations and beaches. It is one of the favorite locations for the person who adventure sports like snorkelling and sea walking.

Cellular Jail


Having almost 693 cells, the construction of this cell started in 1896 and it was completed in 1906.cellular jail was also called kalapaani. It was considered as the most suitable place to punish the independence activist. Every year many tourist come to visit this epic jail.it gives a glimpse into the past.



Mahatma Gandhi Memorial National Park


Mahatma Gandhi memorial national park Situated 29km from port Blair, the park was basically built under the wildlife protection act 1972. The main purpose for construction of this national park was to save the coral reef from deterioration.



Havelock Island


It is just the right place for the people who have a keen interest in adventure water sports. Scuba diving snorkelling and many more things can be done there.

Bharatpur Beach


Bharatpur beach which is located at the jeety near the neil islands has attracted attention of many tourist in the past few decades.it is mainly known for its coral reefs and white shores and the best time to visit this place is in the mornings or the evenings.it is sometimes also called as the coral capital of Andaman. There are many benches there so one can just sit and relax with coconut water in his hand.



Marina Park and Aquarium


Marina park and aquarium is one of the worth visiting locations in Andaman and Nicobar islands. Located in port Blair, the main aim of its establishment was to spread the awareness about the conservation of aquatic life in Andaman and Nicobar.



Viper Island


Yet another important tourist location which derives its names from the snakes that inhabit the island. Ruins of a jail can be spotted there which was used to incarcerate political prisoners who were fighting for India’s independence.
