What Are the Features of Html5

We all are aware of HTML which came into existence in 1990 and is the backbone of creation of web pages. The modern version which is more reliable, efficient and has new features is, HTML5. It is the fifth edition of HTML and is available in two forms. From the time it is introduced in 2008 it focuses on the concept that the language is comprehensible. The advantage of using this version is that the web pages and web systems could be operated on any browser and operating systems. It has been designed keeping those devices in mind which require less power for their operation.


1.It’s possible to go through web content in offline mode as well. The readers could read the content even if there no internet connection.

2.Due to addition of new features one can connect with other browsers efficiently without any delay.

3.There are a plethora of themes available for the users to make their content more attractive and readable for the users.

4.It supports other media features and abolishes the need of Java and Flash.

5.Modification of the existing content in the website can be done easily within few minutes.

6.One can paste 2D ,3D and graphics directly in the code.


Hypertext Mark-up Language is the mother language of most of the web pages. The creation of web systems is done through HTML. HTML shapes the appearance and structure of a webpage.

1.There are numerous new features such as audio, video, canvas, header, footer etc which are introduced in HTML5 and were not in HTML earlier.

2. Geolocation features enables to track one’s location and it is sent to the web systems immediately. This feature is not present in HTML.

3.Offline browsing without internet connection is possible in HTML5.

4.The presentation of web forms is more systematic and pleasing in HTML5. It catches viewers’ attention.

5. HTML5 is faster and mobile friendly . HTML is very slow and it is not accessible on mobile phone.

6.Audio and video files can be added into website to make it eye catchy. This feature was not available in HTML.

7. 2D shapes such as rectangle, square, circle , parallelogram etc can be drawn in HTML5. No such shapes could be drawn in HTML.

8. HTML5 works with all the new browsers such as Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari etc. whereas HTML works with the old ones.

9. JavaScript cannot run in the background in HTML. HTML5 allows JavaScript to run in background.

10. HTML uses cookies for storage and HTML5 uses local storage.

11.The newly introduced canvas feature allows to draw tables and graphs on the page which is possible from the time HTML5 is introduced.

It is visible from the above points that in HTML vs HTML5, HTML5 being more reliable and modern is preferred as it organises and manages the content on World Wide Web in more systematic way then  HTML. Performance and consistency wise HTML5 is more adaptable and friendly.
